Bicycling Route 66 in a Pandemic

“it touched me … You can see and hear (the) emotion!”

— Sasha-Ann Simons, WBEZ Chicago public radio

𝐇𝐨𝐩 𝐨𝐧 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐫𝐢𝐝𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐥𝐢𝐟𝐞 𝐝𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚 𝐩𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐦𝐢𝐜.

The Beast of Main Street tells the compelling, funny, emotional stories of people in the time of a Covid surge.

It’s a fascinating, original piece of “slow journalism” from a journalist bicycling 2,500 miles from Chicago to Los Angeles along “America’s Main Street,” the fabled Route 66.

Beast of Main Street will change the way you think of the pandemic of our time.

The Story Cycle

America’s Coasts in Climate Crisis

This year-long epic climate project interviews hundreds of ordinary people while bicycling  7,000 miles and across 22 states along the Atlantic, Pacific & Gulf coasts!

It was one of the HOTTEST, WILDEST years on record.

The grassroots, storytelling trip turned Comerford from a climate pessimist to a climate optimist. Talking to people one-on-one, he hears the potential for change.

Forty percent of America lives near the 3  coasts from Maine to Key West on the Atlantic Coast; Seattle to San Diego on the Pacific Coast; and Texas to the Florida Everglades.

There were hurricanes, atmospheric rivers, bomb cyclones and heat domes. Comerford was living in and reporting on the climate.

Fishermen, firemen, housewives, shopkeepers, students, kids, retirees all have their say. But do Americans have the WILL to change this fossil fuel world?
